Miriam Oppel
Miriam Oppel, is one of the rising stars on the UK Salsa Scene, She recently won rave reviews for her performance with Marchant Birch at the 5 Star London Salsa Congress (Heathrow). Miriam studied Dance and Culture at the University of Surrey. After graduating she taught dance to adult and youth groups around Surrey, specialising in Street and Theatre Jazz styles. In addition to her teaching she danced for Contemporary dance company Hier Moro Dance Theatre Collective and began training in Classical Indian dance. It was after joining Salsa Diva Dance Company in 2001 that she developed a great love for salsa music and dance.
   
Since then she has performed in a number of salsa dance troupes including Rhythm Symbion, Iris de Brito and the Latin Soul Sisters, and the Leon Rose Project. She is now enjoying her dance partnership with Marchant Birch. Miriam has also appeared dancing salsa in the music video Nacho Pardesia De by Groove Factory and features in Body Talk, Ladies Salsa styling by Iris De Brito.
