Damarys Farres from Havana Cuba
Damarys, from Havana , Cuba , is the director of The Cuban School of Arts & UK's Cuban Salsa Champion. She is a very charismatic and passionate dancer, choreographer, artistic director and teacher. Her background is in classical ballet, contemporary, jazz, hip-hop, reggaeton, Cuban traditional, popular, folk dances as well as Afro and other Latin and modern dances make her style unique.
Since Damarys arrived in the UK , she has promoted and helped with the integration of Afro-Cuban culture, dance, traditions, and products, in the UK and worldwide. She has participated in, taught, organised, danced and/or choreographed for and with all the best dancers, teachers, dance groups, musicians and promoters that are associated with Cuba in the UK.

Damarys, also continues with the integration of her work when she returns to Cuba and takes her experiences and promotes them everywhere she goes. Her passion and love for the Cuban culture and all kind of dances are very well appreciated in everything she does. It has been said that: - 'Damarys affects everybody with her vital energy, passion and happiness!' Last year she was nominated as one of the best female Cuban dancers in the UK .
Damarys organises educational and very enjoyable courses, workshops, cultural projects, master classes, etc.
Some of her work in the UK includes:
- Consultant, teaching, advising on and performing authentic Cuban Dance and Culture in “Auf Wiedersehen Pet” for BBC 2003
- Director and Organiser of SoyCubanaSoyPopular (SCSP) monthly workshops in London teaching popular Cuban dances including Salsa, Rumba, Danzon, Cha Cha Cha, Son, Conga and Afro-Cuban
- Organiser of Cuban Dance Workshops for primary and secondary school children, including for parents and children on the Sure Start Scheme
- Director of The Cuban School of Arts.
- Organiser of PURO SABOR CUBANO Dance Course (10 weeks of Pure Cuban rhythms & style)
- Very popular 10 weeks Ladies Salsa Styling Courses & Ladies Cuban Salsa & Rumba Styling Courses, full of fun and tips, among other workshops and classes.
